It’s something we never thought would happen. For the past five years, we have been going to physical therapy appointments for B (who has global development delays). We have worked on walking, running, going up/down stairs, throwing, catching, anything physical. We have cried and celebrated and pushed him to go farther and do more.
Today our beloved therapist brought B out to his, with his new inserts for his ankles and explained that she was leaving the clinic (she was only there temporarily) next week. Today was is last session with her.
But not just because she is leaving, that would be ridiculous. If that were the case, we would just be on hold until they found a replacement.
Today was our last physical therapy session because our therapist believes that B is done. She believes he is where he should be.
I cried.
I couldn’t help it. When you spend FIVE years driving back and forth, going through evaluation after evaluation, it becomes a part of your life. Then to be told that door is closing, well, that’s a lot!
Because of his inserts, we will go back to get him assessed when he outgrows them and to see what’s next. And unless a doctor or teacher (or DH or I) notices that he might need some more therapy, he is DONE.
We still have occupational and speech therapy, but you can check off physical!
Excuse me while I go cry tears of pride, joy, and sadness.

I rejoice with you… its high time for B to enjoy being a kid. But be sure to keep an eye on him as he’s not fully capable yet. Congrats and keep it up!
