How to Create a Memorable Birthday Party for Your Children
Birthday parties are very special to children (I don’t have to tell you that). It’s one of the few events they’re looking forward to throughout the year. When the big day comes and all that happens is unwrapping presents and eating cake it’s easy to forget (just think of a past birthday where not much went on – it was fun but somewhat forgettable).

What if you could do something above and beyond to make their birthday always unforgettable? What if you could add in a few activities that would make it truly memorable?

Let’s look at some of the various ideas for creating a spectacular birthday party.

1. Let them theme it

Usually a birthday party is put together by you based around what you think your guests might like. What if, instead, you turn the tables and let them theme the party?

There are plenty of birthday themes they could choose from:

·  Superheros

·  Lego’s

·  Tie Dye

·  Karaoke

·  Movies

·  Pirates

·  Princesses

It does mean you’ll need to make the extra investment in the props and entertainment but allowing your child to theme their party will make it truly unforgettable because A) they are having a blast because it’s what they wanted and B) their friends get to role play and add to a unique experience.

2. Forget pictures and pick up the video camera

When is the last time you watched a video of your birthday party? Probably not ever because most of the time it’s just people taking pictures. Pictures are good and all but they fail to capture those little moments that bring a smile to your face.

One thing you could do instead is to make the investment into a video camera or use your phone to record a good amount of video of the party. Once you have enough video recorded you can plug it into an easy-to-use service like Animoto (which lets you edit, add effects, and produce video) and then share happy birthday videos with the family.

Videos are great for birthday parties, especially when you can look back at them later in life. When you’re watching them you can point out friends you’ve grown up with and laugh at how much you’ve changed. It also lets you reflect on those gifts and fun activities you had during the party that also bring a laugh and good memory.

3. Take it somewhere special

Throwing a birthday party at your house can get a little expensive when you add up all the decorations, food, and the money that goes into planning.

One of the better options that also helps with creating good memories is by taking it somewhere that your child wasn’t expecting like:

·  A theme park

·  A national park

·  A zoo

·  An arcade

·  A ranch

Since these places provide the entertainment you can cut down on the costs to throw the party. Combine this with recording a good video (along with adding a theme) and you will have quite the spectacular birthday party that will be way different from what they’re used to (like throwing it at the house). Some of these locations do require an up-front cost to get in but overall the variety adds to the fun especially if it’s a place they’ve never been before.
